About the Acrylic Convex Mirror
Acrylic convex mirrors are the most popular and versatile security mirror. They provide 160 degree actual viewing angle. Acrylic convex mirrors are constructed of lightweight, shatterproof Plexiglas lenses and can be used without a backing for indoor applications, a hardboard backing for indoor or outdoor applications or with a heavy-duty, 20-gauge steel back for indoor or outdoor use. All of our acrylic convex mirrors come complete with an adjustable ball and swivel and mounting bracket. The roundtangular acrylic convex mirror functions the same way as the round acrylic convex mirror, but has a more rectangular shape. The top and bottom are cropped off for mounting in spaces where a round mirror may not fit.
When we refer to acrylic, glass, or duramir on this website, we are referring to the construction material of the mirror lens itself. A glass convex mirror will have the actual mirror lens constructed from glass. The duramir convex mirror is an extermely tough convex mirror constructed from new product called "Druamir."
Acrylic convex mirrors with no backing are ideal for indoor applications where a lighter, more cost effective mirror is needed. The adjustable ball and swivel and mounting bracket come attached directly to the lens and allow for infinite adjustment. Choose the acrylic convex mirror that best meets your needs.
The acrylic convex roundtangular mirror is available in:

They are available with no backing from 12" to 36". The hardboard backed acrylic convex mirror comes in sizes 8" to 36". The steel backed, acrylic convex mirror comes in sizes 8" to 36".
For those who prefer a backing, an acrylic convex mirror is also available with a weatherproof painted hardboard backing with a heavy extruded rubber rim. These mirrors can be used indoors or out and include the same adjustable ball and swivel and mounting bracket.The hardback mirror is also weather resistant and UV resistant. For mild weather conditions or where the mirror is somewhat protected from high winds, the hardback acrylic convex mirror hold up well. Hardboard backs are made to withstand rain and moderate wind conditions. The molded rubber seal is UV resistant and does not melt, sag or dry out from hot summer days.
For the ultimate in durability and longevity we recommend an acrylic convexmirror with a steel backing. The steel backed mirror is strong and the lens is sealed, allowing the mirror to stand up to all but the worst of weather conditions. Where there is constant moisture and constant freezing and thawing (even without wind), you should consider the steel backed for longevity.
