Full Dome Mirrors a a great addition to any security plan and also work great as a stand alone product to deter crime and also to aid on safety.
A full dome is half of a circle, typically mounted to a ceiling. Our line of full dome mirrors come with different construction types and a different backing types that determine the durability of the mirror and the outdoor or indoor rating.
The most popular choice is the acrylic full dome mirror. Acrylic is light weight and the least expensive of the different types of lens construciton materials offered by security-mirrors.com. Acrylic has a good reflection quality and is tougher than glass. It does tend to scratch a little more easily than glass though. But, if you are mounting your full dome mirror in a store, for example, then you really shouldn't be concerned with scratching -- just take care and use the correct cleaning products to clean the acrylic security dome.
If you need an outdoor rated acrylic full dome mirror, we would recommend the "Duramir" product. Duramir is a polycarbonate dome mirror replacement. Duramir is shatterproof and virtually indestructable. For testing, we have it a duramir full dome mirror with a hammer, thown knives at it (yes we did), poured paint on it, and just about anything else you can imagine and it has proved to be tough as nails.
Both the acrylic full dome mirror and duramir full dome mirrors come without a backing, or lens only. The outer rim of the dome has predrilled holes for easy mounting. Both are also available with a treated hardboard backing with heavy duty rubber rim for outdoor mounting. You can also get the acrylic full dome with steel backing when you need something very durable, rated for extreme weather conditions, or you just want something that looks a ittle more sylish.
Full dome mirrors are a great security mirror because the will provide a 360 degree of the viewing area. A half dome security mirror will provide roughly at 180 degree viewing area. A half dome mirror works well mounted at the junction of a ceiling and a wall. |
